Tuscan-inspired and sandstone-warm, Peppers Creek is a Pokolbin venue that feels imported from a hillside in Italy. A sandstone chapel, a rustic barrel room lined with oak casks, and vineyard ceremonies make it one of the Hunter's most characterful places to marry.

01
The setting
The climate-controlled White Chapel sits among the vines, its sandstone walls and timber beams giving it a quiet, old-world weight. Ceremonies can be held in the chapel or out among the rows, with the barrel room — a soaring space stacked with ageing oak — hosting receptions that feel intimate despite the scale.
02
The light
Sandstone comes alive in the final hour of sun, throwing a warm glow across every face. The barrel room's interior is softly diffused, which is a gift for reception portraits when the sun is gone. For couple portraits, the terrace and vineyard edge catch the last rim light beautifully.
03
The flow
Chapel ceremony, drinks on the terrace as the sun drops, then into the barrel room for dinner. On-site cottage stays mean the wedding party never has to leave the estate.
Photographer's perspective
A note on the light
I have shot more weddings at Peppers Creek than anywhere else in the Hunter, and I still find new angles in that barrel room every time. The sandstone chapel is my favourite ceremony space in the valley — the way the light falls through the timber beams at 4pm is the kind of thing you cannot plan for, you just have to be ready when it happens.
