Yes — and I genuinely recommend them. An engagement session is the best way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day, and it gives us a chance to work together before the stakes are high. We will pick a spot around Newcastle that means something to you, and I will keep it relaxed and unhurried.

Can you travel within the Hunter Valley, Lake Macquarie or Port Stephens?

Absolutely — I photograph weddings right across Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley vineyards, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock with no travel fees. I grew up on this coastline and I know it like the back of my hand, which is why I do not charge for travel within the region.

What style of wedding photography do you specialise in?

I blend candid documentary photography with elegant, artistic portraits — roughly 70% documentary and 30% posed. The ceremony, the reception, the dancing — I am watching, not directing. How long does it take to receive our wedding photos?

You will see your wedding images within 48 hours. I do not outsource editing — our own internal full-time graphic designer, Claire, works with you during the editing stage to ensure every frame meets our standard. Expect 2–3 hours of editing for every hour of shooting, so a full-day wedding can mean 40+ hours of post-production before you see a single frame.

How much does a Newcastle wedding photographer cost?

Packages start from $995 for a 3-hour elopement style session, through to $5,195 for a full all-day package with two photographers, a large album and canvases. Can we get married at Newcastle Ocean Baths or Nobbys Beach?

Yes — Newcastle Ocean Baths, Nobbys Beach and King Edward Park are all stunning coastal ceremony locations. Most Newcastle beaches and ocean baths are managed by City of Newcastle, and a simple event permit is usually all that is required. I have shot dozens of ceremonies at these spots, so I can walk you through the permit process when you book.

What is the best time of day for wedding photos in the Hunter Valley?

Golden hour — the last 60–90 minutes before sunset — produces the soft, warm light that vineyard weddings are famous for. In the Hunter Valley that is roughly 5:30pm in winter and 7:45pm in summer. What happens if it rains on our Newcastle wedding day?

Rain is never a problem — some of my most cinematic images have come from stormy Newcastle coastlines and moody vineyard skies. I always scout covered alternatives (heritage verandas, cellars, the Cathedral of Nature at Hunter Valley Gardens) and I bring clear umbrellas to every wedding, so your portraits stay beautiful whatever the weather does. For total peace of mind we also offer Wet Weather Insurance — for an additional $100, if your wedding day shoot is significantly impacted by heavy rain, I will return on a separate date to capture the outdoor portraits you envisioned, in your wedding attire and without the pressure of a wedding day timeline. Do you photograph elopements and small weddings in Port Stephens?

Yes — Port Stephens is one of my favourite places to shoot, from Birubi Beach and Anna Bay to Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay. The Elopement Style package (3 hours, from $995) is perfect for intimate ceremonies and beach elopements right across the Port Stephens coastline. If it is just the two of you and a celebrant, I would love to be there.

How many wedding photos do we receive?

Every photo we take, you get — we do not decide what you see and what you do not, you get them all. The length of your package determines how many photos we have the opportunity to take. On average this can vary, but you will receive at least 800 images, up to roughly 3,000 for the full-day packages. You also receive print rights for personal use, so you can print and share them freely.

Do you offer wedding albums and prints?

Yes. The Contemporary and Swish packages include a premium fine-art wedding album, and every package offers optional canvas prints. You can also purchase a wedding album for packages that do not have one as an inclusion. Our graphic designer, Claire, does all the album creation in-house, and they are printed on archival paper that will last generations — the kind of thing your grandchildren will pull off a shelf in 2070.
